Models 2BV and SK are single stage liquid ring vacuum pumps, while Model 2SK is a double stage liquid ring vacuum pump.
The liquid-ring vacuum pump compresses gas by rotating a vaned impeller within a cylindrical casing. Liquid (usually water) forms a moving cylindrical ring against the inside of the casing via centrifugal acceleration. This creates a series of seals between impeller vanes, forming compression chambers. The eccentricity between the impeller and the casing axis results in cyclic volume variation, drawing in and compressing the gas.
