The working principle of a diaphragm vacuum pump involves an electric motor driving a mechanical device to cause the diaphragm to move back and forth, thereby changing the volume of the pump chamber to create a pressure difference. This process is entirely mechanical and does not require any working medium. It is widely used for extracting corrosive gases and provides negative pressure conditions for processes such as evaporation, distillation, crystallization, drying, biochemical reactions, and vacuum filtration.
